Known as the “greatest outdoor show on earth”, Calgary offers phenomenal views of nature, from the beautiful hills to rocky mountains, and boasting rivers. Millions of people visit the town year after year, just to have a full outdoor experience as well as explore the old historical oil town’s streets. It is about more than just nature and oil, however. The town is also home to phenomenal people. Famous people from Calgary Alberta come in all types and shapes; footballers, actors, actresses, singers, vloggers, politicians, name it!
One of these is the renowned Cory Allan Michael Monteith, an actor best known as Finn Hudson from the famous TV show, Glee. He also acted in the famous, or in this case, infamous Final Destination 3. Cory was born in Calgary, though relocated after his career’s debut. Before this, he had been rehabilitated from drug abuse, presumably caused by his parents’ divorce in his teenage years. His career bloomed, however, and he was a proud winner of Teen Choice Awards, though passed in 2013 as a result of a drug overdose.
Ted Cruz, the 34th Texas senator and a glorified republican hails from Calgary as well, known for vying for the US presidency in 2016. He was born in Calgary but relocated to the US, and now resides in Texas, holding the senator seat since 2013. He won numerous debate contests in his early years and has excellent oratory skills, evident today from his powerful speeches. He graduated cum laude from Princeton University, went Harvard Law School, and is proudly named as a founding editor of the Harvard Latino Law Review.
When it comes to sports, Calgary has not been left behind either. Natalya Neidhart, from the famous Hart wrestling family, is a professional wrestler who comes from Calgary. She is currently signed as Natalya to WWE and has been named as one of the most promising wrestlers of the current generation. Natalya has many awards, one being the WWE Divas Championship in 2010. She also features in Total Divas reality show as one of the main casts.
Another notable figure is Tate McRae who is a Dancer, Singer-Songwriter, Actress, and Social Media Personality. She’s an impressive ballet dancer and her unbelievable body control earned her the Dance Awards’ 2013 Mini Best Dancer title. Come 2014, she managed to also win a Capezio Athlete sponsorship and a spot on the Dancerpalooza Beat Squad. Moreover, shes on FOX’s ‘So You Think You Can Dance: The Next Generation’ show.
Last but definitely not least of the sample of famous people from Calgary Alberta is Victor Webster, best known for his iconic role of ‘Nicholas Alamain’ in the phenomenal show ‘Days of Our Lives.’ From the show, he landed other famous movies and shows some being Charmed, Mutant X, Harper’s Island, Criminal Minds… the list is really endless.
